Before being trained and committing to HASAR, applicant volunteers are given a three month 'get to know us' phase where they can attend training and see if HASAR is the right fit for them. After the three month period, applicants can then begin their training and volunteer career in HASAR!
HASAR is built on the concept of 'chain of command' within the positions of leadership.
The General Searcher is the backbone of HASAR and conducts all search operations
The first level of leadership, the Team Leader leads the 4 member team on a deployment.
The Platoon Lieutenant assists the Platoon Captain with administration and is the 'welcome' member assigned to new members.
The Platoon Captain is the head of the Platoon and responsibility for the safety and training of the members.
Volunteers interested in HASAR are required to:
- Be a resident of Ontario;
- Be 18 years of age or older;
- Be able to pass a Vulnerable Record check;
- Want to help your community!
