OperationsSince 2019, HASAR has been involved in several 'operations' outside of the normal callout for missing or lost persons. These operations have involved:
- Natural Disaster (Provincial Mutual Aid) - Pandemic Assistance DeploymentsFor operations which take HASAR members out of their patrol area for a length of time, or require a substantial amount of time or commitment; HASAR creates an operation such as below:
OP OCEANUS (April-May 2019) The assistance to the Ottawa area with devastating flooding. OP SOTERIA (March-June 2020) The assistance to Meals on Wheels in the Huron, Perth and South Bruce area on a near daily basis. OP SOTER (December 2020-May 2021) The assistance to Meals on Wheels in the Huron area on a weekly basis. OP SERAPIS (January 2021- 2022) Assisting with traffic control for immunization clinics in South Bruce and the distribution of Rapid Access kits in Goderich. OP SOTERIA II (2022) The assistance to Meals on Wheels again for Huron and Perth. |
AdventureSmartHASAR volunteers are trained and commit to the AdventureSmart program through its newly formed Community Education Platoon. Courses taught are:
- Hug-A-Tree - Paddlesmart - Snowmobiling - Snow Safety & Education - Survive Outside Adventure DayWinter of 2021 saw the first Adventure Day held outside Exeter, ON. Over 100 parents and youth attended to learn eight basic survival skills by rotating through skill stations. HASAR is committed to hosting several Adventure Day's throughout the year!
Spencer On SurvivalOur resident AdventureSmart expert, Spencer hosts multiple short segments on basic survival and skills needed to survive the first 24 hours until a youth is found.
