Our Community

As members of the community, our volunteers are committed to the betterment of the Huron and surrounding area. Our people come from all walks of life, all with the common interest of serving and wanting to help bring a successful end to a missing or lost person. As well, our volunteers are willing to leave their community for short periods of time to assist others who need help; and to try to prepare others in the area before disaster strikes.

During April and May of 2019, the Ottawa region suffered emergency status flooding. HASAR was able to send 10 members of our team to the Constance Bay area to help co-ordinate sandbagging and assist with controlling the volunteers. Our members played an integral part of the relief efforts and this was our first deployment of any sort.

Part of the outreach to our community is through AdventureSmart. The program teaches the Hug-A-Tree, PaddleSmart and Survive Outside; to name a few of the programs. Please click on the link to check out or request HASAR members to teach AdventureSmart. So far, over 600 children and 100 adults in the community have been trained through HASAR!
