Marine Search Volunteers
Basic Marine Searcher
All members of HASAR shall be Ground Searcher qualified for a year before dedicating full time to Marine. A volunteer, once a General Searcher, can then be trained through the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, of which HASAR shall be detachment; to be qualified for marine SAR.
SAR I
The first qualification is that of SAR I. The volunteer will undergo both an in-class and on the water phase to qualify as a crewmember on the HASAR vessel.
SAR II
Once trained in SAR I, volunteers can be trained as vessel Coxswain's through SAR II which is again a mix of in class and on water training.
